On February 20, 2022, the Patan Appellate Court sentenced Chiran Kumar Budha, a sergeant in the Nepal Army, to lifetime imprisonment (25 years as per Criminal Code 2017) for beating to death 24-year-old Raj Kumar Chepang (Chepang) from Pipal Milan Chowk Ward, Rapti Municipality-2, Chitwan, in 2020.
On March 14-29, 2022, the Convention on Biological Diversity's third meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation will be taking place in Geneva, Switzerland.
Today, March 8, is International Women's Day (#IWD), first celebrated in 1909. While too many women all over the world still suffer from violence and rights abuses, it is important to recognize the amazing work Indigenous women are doing to make change happen.

Michelle de León, Grants Coordinator, was born and raised in Guatemala. She holds a Bachelor's degree in International Affairs from the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala, and is a Certified Translator (Spanish/English). Michelle worked at the United Nations for the Department of Safety and Security and then was an executive assistant for an Ambassador. Michelle is a coffee lover, yoga practitioner, and an avid reader. She believes that humankind is a universe of differences that are somehow intertwined. A keen interest in cultures and how they connect led her to pursue a career in international affairs and in translation.
